Introducing Seattle Chiropractor Dr. Mark Burick

“Simply put, breathing second hand smoke all night and enduring eternal boredom was a situation I could no longer tolerate,” said Dr. Mark, who worked in a casino in Atlantic City before receiving inspiration to pursue a career in chiropractic.

Dr. Mark explains: “Since I was a child I would massage my mother’s back and she would always tell me ‘you have such good hands you should be a chiropractor’. As I searched for a life path that was, challenging, fun, and helpful to mankind, I could hear my mom’s voice suggesting chiropractic.”

With a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from Penn State University, Dr. Mark needed to complete the science prerequisites before applying for chiropractic college. After doing extensive research, and consulting with his cousin who was attending Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, Dr. Mark chose Palmer College for his training. Palmer is the world's oldest and most respected chiropractic college. In fact, Davenport is where chiropractic was discovered in 1895 by D.D. Palmer. “The schooling was intense at first,” says Dr. Mark, “but what I found most interesting was that the more I learned about how the body works, the more chiropractic made sense. The power that made the body heals the body; what a concept! An especially inspirational experience I had was with one of my first patients in clinic. He was an 8 year old boy with Torticollis; a condition in which his head was stuck in one position, and if he tried to move it in any direction he had extreme pain. (Not what you consider a low stress office visit on your 3rd day in clinic). I adjusted him and when he returned, he was 80% improved. After the next adjustment he was 100%. I was amazed by the body’s ability to heal when nerve interference was removed.”

Dr. Mark graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1992. He has continued his education throughout his fourteen years in private practice. Dr. Mark has advanced certification in whiplash and spine trauma, certification in the foundations of functional nutrition and is a certified Koren Specific Technique practitioner. Most recently, he has been studying with Dr. James Chestnut, B.Ed., MSc., D.C., C.C.W.P., taking The Wellness Practice Certification course to become a Certified Chiropractic Wellness Practitioner.

What We Do

At Burick Chiropractic, our purpose and our passion is to lead as many people as possible towards a wellness lifestyle to achieve optimal health. We strive to enrich and prolong lives through specific chiropractic adjustments and lifestyle education. Practice members can expect clear and open communication regarding their care. Treatment is based on clinical findings and your unique goals. Practice members are encouraged to become active participants in their healing through specific diet, exercise and other lifestyle recommendations. Chiropractic care, along with eating well, moving well and thinking well, are the essential ingredients to achieve optimal spinal and nerve function and a state of balance and health.

Some of the most moving experiences in practice have happened with children. A mom brought in her autistic 8 year old son, reporting that he does not sleep well. He expressed instant relaxation during his treatment. After his first adjustment he went home and went right to bed, sleeping so deeply his mom had a difficult time waking him for school the next day. Education is an important aspect of care in our office and I find great joy when I present wellness lectures and lifestyle workshops.

Dr. Mark's Perspective

I am originally from Mountain Top in NE Pennsylvania where I have 2 brothers and 2 sisters. I am married to the most beautiful woman in the world. My wife, Jodi and I live in Renton near the Fairwood Golf Course, where I play and Jodi swims. We have a dog named Kala who loves to run. We love to travel, enjoy beautiful art, cook, eat good food, ski and spend time with friends. We also enjoy the challenge and focus of rock climbing, and it is a great workout.

I receive regular chiropractic care about once a week. We start our day with a workout at a gym four days a week and eat a predominately hunter-gatherer diet, organic whenever possible. We sleep on the best mattress ever made. I meditate, express gratitude, and love my wife every day. We play hard and rest well and I love what I do.

Enough about me! How can we help you with today’s safe and natural chiropractic care? Give us a call so we can help you take your first step towards better health.

If bladder control seems elusive, consider chiropractic. If spinal bones are interfering with nerves that control your child's bladder, plastic sheets, alarms and other methods simply add to the embarrassment. Why do so many drugs require a prescription?
